Is there a benefit in actively encouraging students to learn and engage with grammar? At the University of Bristol, the effects of a project, which challenged students to put grammar onto a movie screen and do a presentation on their specific topic, were studied and the results are presented in this paper and compared to the results of recent grammar acquisition theories. The results provide evidence that the project resulted in a raised level of language awareness amongst the students as well as heightened self-awareness as language learners.
