There is no doubt that every person is basically able to learn to communicate in different languages. However, not every learner in a foreign language classroom is aquiring communicative competences. This applies not only, but also to learners with a learning disability. Hence the question to be answered by foreign language methodology: What is an adequate classroom setting to enable learners in all their variety to devolop their abilities to communicate in the target language?
