This article concentrates on showcasing the steps of differentiated instruction in a motivating, pirate themed, project-based program. The course capitalizes on the use of new technologies and is implemented with native French speakers and students for whom French is a foreign language in a second-grade classroom at The International School of Los Angeles. This interdisciplinary lesson plan which focuses on speaking and writing is suitable for non-French speakers who recently arrived in the class and offers multiple opportunities to enhance the language skills of French-speaking students as well.
