Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the results of a survey dedicated to French speaking Swiss accents. The survey was built to get some answers to questions such as “Which is our favorite accent in French-speaking Switzerland?”, “Which accent do you like the less?” and “According to you, in which canton do one speak the best French?” Overall, more than 3'000 participants took part to the survey. Their answers allow us to conclude that: Swiss people prefer the accent of the canton where they spent most of their youth; French from Geneva is the variety they like the less (except for participants from Geneva). As for the question on the canton where the French variety is the “best one”, the analysis of our data reveals some interesting differences regarding the age of the participants between the cantons of Geneva and Neuchâtel.
