Multilingual children have needs in two languages and two literal systems. However, the language and literacy development of children with migrant background is often disregarded. In many educational institutions only one cultural dimension is considered, since the educational practice is aligned on monolingualism, monolingual literacy and mono-culturality. In an inclusive educational institution, however all needs and skills of children are respected. Every child experiences linguistic diversity - both orally and in writing. The teaching staff works together with parents to promote bilingualism and literacy in both languages. Daily practice focuses on supporting multilingualism, providing different writing cultures and cultural richness.
