The topic of the future of the classics has very much been debated and studied , in recent times. Redefining the idea of the classics is a useful starting point in order to stress the importance of contexts for developing skills and competences in translating ancient Greek language texts. In this paper the importance of content and contexts is studied through the lenses of the recent framework for Italian secondary schools, aiming to develop a different model of using ancient text to understand our own ways in reading the classics.
