This article shares the results of the project ‘Digital Literacy in University Contexts’ which aims to develop the digital literacy of teachers and students at Swiss institutions of higher education. These conclusions illustrate an AI literacy model (Cardon et al. 2023) and allow us to suggest the following steps to develop, for ourselves and our students, application, authenticity, agency and responsibility in our interactions with GenAI tools. It is important to:
- discuss AI with peers and students
- be aware of and present information on: technical details that have an impact on usage; the weaknesses of human posteditors;
- include tasks with AI in the classroom.
