In this paper, we discuss the presence of the varieties of French spoken in the French speaking part of Switzerland that appear (or not) in textbooks used in Swiss-German regions. Do children only learn French from France or are the Swiss variations represented and thematized? What about cultural aspects such as traditions, gastronomy, or history? Is the representation of Swiss French language and culture the same in the various textbooks or are some textbooks more open to variation than others? To answer these questions, we examined four textbooks and their instructional manuals currently in use in Swiss-German schools.
