Résumé

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEF) offers not only the widely used global scales, but also detailed scales, amongst others for phonological control, i.e. pronunciation. When attempting to include the latter in report forms for pronunciation courses in German as a foreign language at Klagenfurt University, the need for adaptations was felt: the scales had to be refined in terms of precision and detail; further categories of description were needed. Thus, a new scale for the specific context of the pronunciation course was developed that might equally be applied in other settings. Nonetheless, a certain doubt remains as to whether the universal use of the CEF is beneficial.
