Résumé

Awakening to languages helped Lebanese teachers dealing with linguistic challenges in situations of influx of Syrian refugees in their classes by motivating them to learn French or English as a foreign language. The teacher’s legitimation of the language(s)/culture(s) of these students in class allowed not only the teachers to exceed their rejection of minority cultures, but also students to accept each other difference.
