Sensitive to the problems that many Chinese students of German encounter in the pronunciation of the language, the author examines the materials used in the teaching of German in China. The example of a regionalized version of an international textbook shows how the specific difficulties of certain students, or groups of students, can be recognized and remedied by additional exercises in certain fields. The author suggests establishing a coherent and progressive list of priorities, starting with listening exercises intended to help the students distinguish between the difficult phonemes and finally integrating pronunciation in other areas such as vocabulary, grammar and intercultural studies. These propositions are perfectly consistent with those made by Daniela Niebisch in the preceding article. Both authors plead for continuous training of pronunciation which should be based on various resources in order to allow the teacher to choose the most appropriate exercises.
